Did anyone see Jill Tracy at the Edward Gorey "Edwardian Ball?" It was tremendous. Totally packed, everybody in fabulous costumes! She performed a fantastic set. Lots of new material.

Tue, January 25, 2005 - 11:28 AMHad to miss it... we just got back from three weeks in Central America and were having a homecoming party that night.
Someone told me that they went, to see JT for the first time (by strong coersion on my part), and absolutely loved her, said she was the best part of the evening.

Fri, January 28, 2005 - 7:37 PMThat was my first time hearing of her at all and I loved it! I talked to her about The Dresden Dolls as I'm hoping to get her to open for them the next time they're in town. -

Sat, January 29, 2005 - 2:10 PMWow, that would be great Whitney! Jill Tracy should tour with the Dresden Dolls. That would be a ground breaking show! Everyone should have the opportunity to see that one.

Re: Edwardian Ball!
Sat, January 29, 2005 - 11:45 PMjust one? there aren't enough words to describe Jill tracy, I saw her at the 'cancelled' Nina Hagen show at the DNA, what a fantasic night, and at the Edwardian Ball, the new songs she's writting are amazing. She is so unbelievably beautiful, and breathtaking and haunting, and delicious, and enchanting .... and yes extraordinary, very, very extraordinary - can't wait for the next Jill/Nina show at the DNA on the 9th -

Re: Edwardian Ball!
Sat, January 29, 2005 - 11:53 PMhehe, yeah, I could think of many words to describe Jill, but I chose that one so I could steal her song lyrics :P
the 9th you say? hmmmm... I'd like to check that out.. I've never seen Nina, and only saw Jill at Hypnodrome, which I'm sure isn't quite the same...

Re: Edwardian Ball!
Sun, January 30, 2005 - 10:26 AMI don't know if they're style is super similar, but they would definitely fit on the same bill.
The Dresden Dolls are a piano and drums duo with amanda playing and singing and brian on the drums. She's got a really deep dynamic voice and their music jumps around from romping to angry to creepy ballad. Strong German Cabaret influence in the vain of kurt weil or brecht. They’re super theatrical and put on a phenomenal live show.
You can hear clips on their website (which is also just a fun place to poke around) www.dresdendolls.com -
